Fred Warren Waters (February 2, 1927 — August 28, 1989) was a Major League Baseball pitcher who played in 1955 and 1956 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He batted and threw left-handed.
In 1954 he was traded to Milwaukee along with 3B Sid Gordon, OF Sam Jethroe, P Max Surkont, and minor leaguers - Curt Raydon‚ Larry Lasalle and $100,000 for Danny O'Connell. This is the only six-for-one trade in major league history and will be surpassed only by the seven-for-one deal that will send Vida Blue from the Oakland A'sto the SF Giants in 1978.[1]
After his pitching career, Waters was a longtime manager and coach in the minor league system of the Minnesota Twins.
He was born in Benton, Mississippi and died in Pensacola, Florida.
